Delays in investigating child welfare deaths: Once again NDP actions fail to make children a priority in Manitoba

Today, the Ombudsman is reporting that there are undue delays in the investigation of child welfare deaths in Manitoba.   Several years ago, when the NDP brought in legislation to transfer reponsibility for the investigation of children's deaths to the Children's Advocate from the Medical Examiner, they claimed this would result in a better process.  However far from this being the case, the result to date has been long delays in the investigations.  Children are our future.  They are the most important of all.  Why is it that whenever the NDP get their fingers involved in changes like this the result is often worse rather than better?
